Why Most Roofs Here Are
Asphalt Shingle

Asphalt shingles are the default choice in this region for a reason. The material is affordable, it comes in every color, and a good install lasts about two decades. The trade off is that shingles take weather damage before anything else does.

Most shingle problems trace back to the install, not the shingle. Nails driven too high, flashing reused from the old roof, missing ice and water shield in the valleys. Those shortcuts stay hidden for a while, until the first winter finds them.

01 Asphalt Shingle

Asphalt Shingle Installation in New York

Asphalt shingle installation in New York covers the full system, not just the shingles on top. Underlayment, ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, drip edge, step flashing, and ridge vent all go on with the new roof. Architectural and three tab shingles are both available, and the difference in cost and lifespan is explained during the estimate. (60)

02 Shingle Roof

Shingle Roof Repairs in New York

Shingle roof repair in New York covers leaks, lifted courses, cracked tabs, exposed nail heads, and flashing that has pulled away from a wall or chimney. Small repairs are scoped from the inspection, since the visible damage and the actual leak are often two different spots on the same roof. Shingle roof repair costs far less than a full replacement. (60)

03 Damaged Shingle

Damaged Shingle Replacement in New York

Damaged shingle replacement in New York handles the sections that fail from age and sun rather than from a single storm. Blistered, curled, and split shingles get pulled and replaced course by course, with the underlayment checked underneath. Color matching is closest on newer roofs, since asphalt shingles fade a little more with every single year of direct sun exposure. (60)

04 Shingle Roof

Shingle Roof Maintenance in New York

Shingle roof maintenance in New York keeps a roof at its full service life instead of losing years to small failures. Sealant at flashing and pipe boots, loose or backed out nails, debris in the valleys, and blocked gutter lines are corrected. Maintenance also documents the roof condition each season, which helps when the roof is eventually sold or replaced. (60)

03 Field Checklist

Architectural or Three
Tab Shingles

Both are asphalt, both get installed the same way, and the choice usually comes down to wind rating and budget.

01

Lifespan — Three Tab

Three tab shingles are the budget option and generally carry the shorter of the two warranties.

02

Lifespan — Architectural

Architectural shingles are thicker, layered, and rated for higher wind speeds than the flat three tab.

03

Appearance — Three Tab

Flat, uniform rows with a clean look that suits smaller homes and simple roof lines well.

04

Appearance — Architectural

Dimensional shadow lines that read closer to a wood shake roof from the street or curb.

05

Cost — Three Tab

Lower material cost per square, which shows up most on larger roofs with simple slope layouts.

06

Cost — Architectural

Higher material cost, and the wind rating is usually what justifies the difference on the roof.

04 Our Process · 04 Steps

How Every Job
Actually Runs

Every job runs through the same ordered steps — no vague estimates, no surprises mid-job.

01
Step 01

Shingle Selection

Color, profile, and wind rating are chosen before the order goes in, with samples held on the roof. (18)

02
Step 02

Tear-Off and Prep

Old shingles come off, the deck is checked, and drip edge and underlayment go down before anything else. (18)

03
Step 03

Shingle Install

Courses are laid to the manufacturer nailing pattern, with valleys and penetrations flashed as the work moves up. (18)

04
Step 04

Ridge and Cleanup

Ridge vent and cap shingles finish the roof, then the property is cleared of debris and old material. (18)

05 Why Choose Us

What You Get on
Every Job We Run

01

Nailing Pattern Followed

Nails go into the manufacturer strip at the correct depth, which is the detail that keeps a wind warranty valid. (20)

02

New Flashing, Not Reused

Step flashing, valley metal, and pipe boots are replaced with the roof, since old metal fails before new shingles do. (20)

03

Ventilation Corrected at Install

Ridge and soffit airflow gets balanced during the install, because a hot attic cooks shingles from below year after year. (20)

Twenty years is the usual working number here, give or take. Ventilation and install quality move it more than the brand does. A well- vented roof with proper flashing often outlives a premium shingle that somebody installed in a big hurry. (40)

Depends on where the damage sits. A handful of shingles in the middle of a slope can be swapped out. Damage along the edges, in a valley, or around flashing usually means opening up more than it first looks like. (40)

Heat and moisture, usually from an attic that isn't breathing. Trapped heat bakes the asphalt from underneath, which dries out the mat and makes the edges lift. Fixing the ventilation matters as much as fixing the shingles on top. (40)

Deep cold is the tricky one. Shingles need warmth to seal down, so a winter install may not bond until spring. It can still be done correctly with hand sealing, but scheduling in milder weather is simpler for everyone involved. (40)

Two is the common limit in most codes, and even two is more weight than a lot of older decks want to carry. If there are already two layers up there, a full tear-off is the only real option left. (40)
